5 Tips for reconnecting with your yoni

Yoni pearls, yoni eggs, yoni steams, etc. The “yoni” movement seems to be taking the world by storm yet there are so many women who still have no knowledge of anything that's going on in the realm of vaginal health and wellness or even what’s going on with their own vaginas. Good news is, there are plenty of resources and professionals that can provide several paths to womb and vaginal wellness through guidance, services, natural medicine (food and herbs), and products.


Okay so, I know what some of you all are thinking; what the hell is a yoni? Yoni is the Sanskrit word for vagina. The holiest of Holy Grails. The vagina is the sacred life force center. This area is where all life and creativity is birthed. If you search back through ancient history, the vagina, the womb, and the female/feminine archetype was held to the highest regard. They were worshiped and respected by all.


Unfortunately for women, specifically women living in “modern” societies where health is not a top priority, we have not been taught proper care for our sacred jewels. What’s even worse is our unethical practices have had a negative impact on those in “underdeveloped” societies. We have been disconnected from our sacred centers by giving it different names that have negative stigmas, we were taught that our sexual energy is something to be ashamed of, and we were given toxic feminine products that further perpetuate sickness and disconnection in our bodies.



In 2016, when I began my awakening, I decided the first thing I wanted to do was take my health back into my own hands. The health of my mind, body, and Spirit. About a year or so into my journey, after I had transitioned into a plant-based lifestyle and had seen drastic improvements in my health and overall wellness. I had discovered this magical world of natural and plant-based yoni care that changed my life forever. I will admit, what led me to this discovery was a bad decision after a painful breakup and multiple trips to the gynecologist that were pretty expensive and ineffective. Ancient techniques like the hydrotherapeutic Yoni steam (or V-steam) were introduced to me, as well as Yoni detox pearls* (small, pearl-like orbs of healing herbs that are inserted into the vagina). These tangible products along with several meditation practices assisted me in reconnecting to my yoni, consequently allowing me to have better overall health, cleaner check-ups at the doctor, a more synchronized menstrual cycle, a healthier and happier sex life, more mindfulness, and creative and powerful manifestation powers like you wouldn’t believe!


Through my own experience of reclaiming my health, my wellbeing, and my time (shout out to Maxine Waters) as well as hearing the stories of other women’s womb and vaginal issues, I knew I had to share my story in hopes of inspiring other women to take their health and wellbeing back into their own hands as well. I created a list of ways that were most effective for me to reconnect myself to my womb and become my healthiest, happiest, most powerful self.


1. Call it what it is

Say vagina. Say it again. And again. And again. And again. Say it until you’re comfortable saying it. Say it until it makes other people uncomfortable. Call your vagina what it is. Yours! There’s no need to be ashamed of it, the way it looks, the name, or the fact that sometimes it likes to be stroked every now and again ;P (lol). Other names for it like pum pum, kitty cat, coochie, or the more traditional, pocketbook are cute and all but again, disconnects you from your sacred center and the true power it holds. Reclaim your power by reclaiming your body and treat it with the respect it deserves.




2. Get regular check-ups

Although I have my reservations about western doctors and their extremely greedy and ineffective practices, it is still important to find a professional who can run actual scientific tests and tell you about the state of your yoni. Getting a medical diagnosis is necessary, but taking the medication they prescribe is not. Once you find out what the issue is, then you can take measures into your own hands and find safer, healthier, more natural and organic solutions for yourself. If you aren’t sure where to begin, find a holistic health practitioner, naturopathic doctor, or herbalist that can provide you with guidance.


3. Change your eating habits

Ever heard the term “you are what you eat?” Well, it's true. If you eat healthily, your body will be healthy. If you eat junk, your body will be junk. I’m not telling you to switch to a raw-vegan lifestyle, (although I do believe it is the best way to live) I do highly recommend and urge you to be more mindful about the things you put in your body. Dairy, soda, excess sugar and salt, animal by-products, and processed foods all cause acidity in the body which leads to illness and disease. This disease gets carried into our children when we become pregnant. We aim to give our children better lives than we had, so in order to do that, we must begin with health which begins with our food

choices.



4. Research natural yoni healing methods and the companies that make them

All of these methods might not be the most beneficial for everyone so it is important to do your research first before trying anything new. You wouldn’t purchase a car before researching it so don’t put something on or into your body that you have not thoroughly studied and asked questions about first. Also, research service providers in your area and find out their credentials. Some practitioners may not have been properly trained or certified. Or worse, they have been properly trained and certified, but their intentions are only to make money and not to properly heal you, therefore causing more issues. I can’t stress this enough. Do your dang research!




5. Meditate

Do sacral chakra meditations. Meditating on the health of your yoni and your womb daily (or at the least, weekly if you're just starting out) will create dramatic results. Now, I’m not saying to do this in lieu of the other 4 methods and boom you’ll be healed. What I am saying is intention is everything. You get what you put into your own healing. If you are serious about it and taking action to have a healthier, happier life, you will see and feel a difference. There are plenty of resources online as well as books that teach about meditation and how to get started. A great book to begin your journey with is Overcoming an Angry Vagina by Queen Afua.


Remember, you are a Queen and deserve to be treated like one. But only if you treat yourself like one. May you have a beautiful and enlightening journey to health, wealth, and divinity.
